He Chose Another One

His heart I thought I could win
My heart he would want to reside in

I misled him with my weakness
How many of us also have?

What was tried, treasured, and learned for me
Was just casual and ordinary for him

A broken heart and emptiness in me
to forever not forget

A fleeting moment for him,
A stumbling block for his plans

For me, a chance to get to know him
A trap for sure, he thought it was

The most sacred of all feelings
Trashed as just fun and exchanged for convenience

Who/what to blame, though
None truly knew then...

Ignorance stands as winner
And as it laughs it rips our hearts

Only the hope that it'll all be well remains
How to forget what was and no longer is

Because he who was first mine
left and chose another one...

the food waste disposer thingy

A smell kept bothering me. I didn't know where it was coming from. I followed my "nose closely" and it pointed to under the kitchen's sink.
When I opened those little doors I found several wet fabrics. So,
I decided to ask my
daughter if she had any idea of what
could be happening. She then revealed to me the problem with the food
waste disposer thingy.

If you go back to my first post, you know there's no male figure in my house...

Since this was going to be a
'how to fix' this project
I'd never done
before, I immersed
into deep, focused, intense
thinking. I set out to the home supplies store and to purchase the cheapest
one I'd find. Hesitant about it, found it on a
bottom shelf. Payed for it, and rode back home
determined this would work.

As I removed the faulty waste disposer, forgot to place something underneath to collect the drippings, proceeded to dry up the water, and placed the plastic container where it would be helpful. Then, continued to pay closed attention to how everything was put together before I
took it apart. I used the tools I had. I used my rusty hammer
to hit a part that had to turn clock or counter clockwise to be loose and unhooked.

The waste disposers
were a little heavy to my little hands.
I had to hold the new tan one up until it was screwed right into place. No one else was helping me. The last tricky step for me was to connect the electric cables the right way.

In the end, I had to try it; I had to turn it on to see if it would actually work. I was so happy it all worked out!!
So, I decided to share this little experience after school with one of my female students at work, and the police officer assigned to our school walked in and listened to the last half to point out that changing a food waste disposer is an easy thing to do!

I met one

Last Friday as I was working with end of the school-year paper work, I stepped out of my classroom and the father of one of my female students passed by my room. He was accompanied by three girls. Two were his daughters, and the other family related, niece or something. He showed so proud to be walking around with them.
Well, I know for a fact that the girl who was my student is an excellent student. She standing so proud next to her dad. A totally refreshing sight for me. Filled me with energy, hope, enthusiasm.
I asked the father figure what were the other girls' names and he mentioned them with such pride. He said they (he and his wife) had four other daughters; a total of five. The names of the girls were planned and chosen carefully. The girls' births were planned to happen every two years. I showed honest surprise and interest. Then, he added that the family genealogy had been done. (to add to my surprised look)
So, I asked them if they had added the story of how they came up with the girls' names to their family records. He went into a moment of thinking, to finally say: "We're going to have to do that."

so...

so...men want a woman that won't let them touch her. so...they marry one to later find out she still doesn't want to be touched.

so...men get fired up with just about anything. so...they think women do the same. i mean by anything...we women?

so...when men marry one of those pure women, then they have to search for one that will let them...problem there.

so...women want to feel vulnerable...to know if we'll be able to give in and correspond. so...men see it as weakness and dump us for another "tougher" one.

so...women open up to men and tell their man about themselves. so...men take it as what's wrong with this woman? i've got so much to hide i'm never talking. i better run off now before i start talking about myself too...

ok, so...now u all out there add some more to the list, or change them and make them better!

where are the men?

My dad left when I was like 3. So I grew up without one. People say that causes personality issues.

At work, most of my friends talk about their families during lunch or in the hallways, you know, whenever they have a chance.

Most of them successful job holding friends who grew up with a dad.

Yet, I hardly find another fatherless professional in my job surroundings. Which, is great for them, it's just that growing up without a father shapes you into a different person from them, somehow. There's a feeling of disconnect many times...

I think only the fatherless could understand this feeling. Any fatherless out there who has had this feeling of disconnect?
